POSITIONS IN SUICIDE PREVENTION AND SCHIZOPHRENIA WITH AARON T. BECK, M.D.:
The Psychopathology Research Unit and the Center for the Prevention of Suicide of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania are seeking applicants for a postdoctoral research fellowship and research associate position in cognitive therapy for suicidal individuals and for schizophrenia beginning July or September 2008. This program offers research seminars and ongoing clinical training. Under the direction of Aaron T. Beck, M.D. Fellows participate in two research streams: (1) clinical outcome studies for suicidal patients, patients with substance use problems, and depressed elderly adults and/or (2) cognitive therapy and psychopathology research in patients with schizophrenia. These studies focus on implementing cognitive therapy interventions in community mental health and addiction centers, as well as university settings.
Applicants who have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent in psychology should have a background in cognitive therapy of depression and severe mental disorders as well as applied research methodology.
